We're thrilled that you are interested enough in practical shooting to explore how best to get started. You are about to take the first step on an exciting journey to a new world of safe, fair, family fun with some of the greatest people you will ever know.

The First Step For us is to get you on our access list for admission to the property at U.S. Training Center. You need to send an email to Terry Bailado at blackwater.pshooter@gmail.com He will need your legal name and street address. This must be done by the Wednesday before the Match day.

We will be excited to see you and eager to answer your questions, but here are a few pointers to make that first visit a pleasant experience for all concerned.
* Do take and wear eye and ear protection. Your normal corrective lens or sunglasses will serve for your first visit. Inexpensive foam earplugs available at most sporting goods or hardware stores will suffice for hearing protection. Most clubs will have such items available for visitors, but having your own will simplify the process and ensure that you will be able to shoot the match.

* Don't assume you know more than you do. Use your first visit to concentrate on watching, listening, and learning.

Let's talk about Gear Needed

It may be that the firearm you already own will be just what you need to get started in practical shooting, but you may learn of other competitive opportunities that will give you that excuse you've been looking for to buy a new toy! USPSA has five competitive divisions, delineated by equipment rules. Unless you are blessed with more money than you need, we recommend that you don't rush out and spend until you've had the opportunity to learn enough about the sport to make an informed decision.

Holsters must retain the firearm during any required movement, must cover the trigger of a holstered gun, must point to the ground when the firearm is holstered, and must be carried at belt level; thigh holsters, shoulder holsters, fanny packs, et al, are not permissible at USPSA events. Further, Production Division has additional holster restrictions. But do not worry we will help you out with gear and what the rules are. a good minimum is 4 magazine, 5 or more is optimal if shooting a standard Glock, Smith and Wesson, H&K pistol. If shooting a 1911 you will need 4 or more magazines.

The Book has a lot of information in it. But yet again look at it but your first match we will help you understand the game.

Here is a PDF of the rule book to look at RULE BOOK the appendix's in the back will cover the divisions. So look them over.

Okay so you have looked at the links you are ready to come out and play? Please read the rules for Conduct on U.S. TRAINING CENTER.

1. Blackwater Practical Shooters will only be able to use U.S. TRAINING CENTER shooting facilities on scheduled match dates ONLY! These are the only days we are allowed on the facility.

2. All traffic laws and signs will be obeyed on the property AND from the time you turn on to Puddin Ridge Road. Those that are caught will not be allowed on to the U.S. TRAINING CENTER property for any future use.

3. Stop at the gate!!!

4. The guard will check for identification and to see if you are on the access list. If you are not on the access list you will be turned away. Please do not argue or hassle the guard. This will ban you from the property indefinitely.

5. Blackwater Practical Shooters has an access list for match days only. If you are not on the list, you will be denied access to the property. Contact Terry Bailado, before the match to ensure you will get on the list.

6. The cafeteria for U.S. TRAINING CENTER IS NOW OPEN TO SHOOTERS ON A PAY AS YOU GO BASIS.

7. All trash that is with you on match day will go in to proper trash containers.

8. Any appointments other than match days to see or use US TRAINING CENTER facility will be made yourself by contacting the US TRAINING CENTER'S main office.

9. You can take pictures and videos of your shooting, but no pictures or videos of other organizations/groups training at U.S. TRAINING CENTER

10. Yield to joggers on THE property.

I appreciate all the cooperation from competitors of our matches. I would like to thank you for supporting our matches and obeying the rules and regulations of the facility. Once again, the rules start from the time you turn off of Route 168 and on to Puddin Ridge Road. Thanks again and I look forward to seeing you at future matches.
